WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY, HART CENTER FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING

The Hart Center for Teaching and Learning is located within the existing Leyburn Library which is the primary study and work space for students on the Washington & Lee campus. The Center is a state-of-the-art teaching and learning center and has two primary functions: to support faculty development through workshops, experimental classrooms, presentations, practice space, and uses of new technology and techniques in teaching; and to support student learning (through tutoring), a writing and communication center, executive function support, group and individual learning sessions, and uses of new technologies for learning.

The project included renovations of two floors of approximately 20,000 SF to accommodate the Center in the Leyburn Library. In addition to the renovation, a new fire alarm system was installed for the entire library.
