VIRGINIA INSTITUTE OF MARINE SCIENCE, THE ACUFF CENTER OF AQUACULTURE

Located at the Gloucester Point, VA campus, the Virginia Institute of Marine Science is recognized worldwide for its  expertise  in  coastal  marine science.  The Institute  conducts  interdisciplinary research in coastal  ocean  and  estuarine  science, educates students and citizens, and provides advisory services to policy makers, industry, and the public.

Kjellstrom and Lee recently completed the construction of a 22,000 square foot oyster hatchery which contains wet lab spaces for the nurturing and growth of oysters from conception through spat development for distribution to commercial hatcheries/processing facilities primarily located on the eastern shore of Virginia's coastal region as well as throughout the state's easternmost riverine localities.
