Kjellstrom + Lee has completed multiple projects for the University of Virginia Foundation's Center for Applied Biomechanics, supporting the growth of one of the world's leading injury biomechanics research facilities. Most recently, in 2026, K+L renovated 3,619 square foot to create a new sled testing laboratory and control suite. The project included installation of a Messring testing sled, specialized HVAC and exhaust systems, laboratory equipment, and upgraded electrical infrastructure to support advanced research and testing capabilities.

Previously, K+L completed a 25,000 square foot renovation and addition that established the center's primary research facility. The project included high-bay testing space, sled testing facilities, specialized laboratories, machine shops, offices, conference rooms, and support areas designed to advance transportation safety and injury prevention research. Together, these projects have expanded the center's ability to conduct world-class biomechanics research and innovation.
