WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY, CENTER FOR ACADEMIC RESOURCES AND PEDAGOGICAL EXCELLENCE (CARPE)
The Center for Academic Resources and Pedagogical Excellence (CARPE) will be located within the existing Leyburn Library which is the primary study and work space for students on the Washington & Lee campus. CARPE will be a state-of-the-art teaching and learning center and will have two primary functions: to support faculty development through workshops, experimental classrooms, presentations, practice space, and uses of new technology and techniques in teaching; and to support student learning (through tutoring), a writing and communication center, executive function support, group and individual learning sessions, and uses of new technologies for learning.
The project includes renovations of two floors of approximately 20,000 SF to accommodate the Center in the Leyburn Library. In addition to the renovation, a new fire alarm system will be installed for the entire library.
