Washington and Lee University is among a group of seven national liberal arts colleges included in a pilot initiative being undertaken by Hillel to enhance the experience for Jewish students on smaller campuses. Washington and Lee's Hillel House features a library, lounge and conference spaces appropriate for studying and socializing; a café with 2 kitchens (one of them a full kosher facility) along with indoor and outdoor seating; a large multi-purpose room that seats 90 and is flexible enough to be used for weekly religious services (it includes an ark and the Torah), lectures, films, concerts, and other celebrations; a small seminar room for meetings and classes for use by the entire university; and offices for the University staff and student organizations.
