This new parking deck is a seven-story, precast, 1,000 car parking deck built on a cassion foundation bearing on soft rock and includes hospital cab traction elevators with glass front cabs; infrastructure upgrades for pneumatic tube system; chilled water lines and high voltage duct bank to feed future projects, as well as provisions for a future helipad.  During construction, existing buildings adjoining the project site remained occupied with no disruption to operations.  An elevated pedestrian connector bridge consisting of a 100’ long enclosed pedestrian walkway spanning the CSX Railroad connects the new parking garage above to an existing parking garage. Ultimately the bridge will be tied into a network of elevated pedestrian walkways connected to the UVA Health System’s Hospital.
