The VCU Recreation Center Project has upgraded and supplemented existing recreational facilities for students, faculty, and staff.  The three project components include the Cary Street Gym Aquatic Center containing pools with a depth ranging from almost 4 feet to 12 feet.  This pool has a drop slide in the deep end.  It also features slide, free play area, and lap lanes available during de-signated times.  The Leisure Pool is a warmer zero-depth entry pool that has two 25-yard lanes, a whirlpool spa with seating for 15 adults, and a vortex.  The Center also includes:
 
  • Rock climbing wall with bouldering/caving wall, belaying classes
  • 18,000 SF fitness center with cardio, selectorized and free weight equipment
  • Over 185 pieces of fitness equipment
  • 7 weight circuits
  • Flat screen TV's in fitness center
  • Four-court gymnasium for basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and badminton
  • Multi-Activity Center (MAC) with indoor turf for soccer, dodge ball and more
  • Indoor running track: 9.5 laps/mile interior lane; 8.4 laps exterior lane 
  • Day use and rental locker  facilities
