The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind is one of the oldest schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the second of its kind in the world. Established by an act of the Virginia General Assembly on March 31, 1838, the school is located in historic Staunton, VA . As the school celebrates more than 170 years of continued excellence in the education of deaf and blind children, it remains at the forefront of educational technology. It utilizes some of the latest and most advanced audio-visual equipment and disability-tailored computer applications in its classrooms to provide its students with the best education.
Kjellstrom + Lee Construction is currently constructing this 3-year, phased project for the school which includes renovations, additions, and new construction on the existing campus. Kjellstrom + Lee's work includes American Disabilities Act, housing, and educational facilities. All work is being performed during ongoing operations.
